Gateway Offers Free Financial Fitness Classes : Gateway to Financial Freedom

TULSA, Okla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Gateway Mortgage, a division of Gateway First Bank, offers monthly classes to help customers interested in home ownership prepare for what is, for many, the most important financial decision of their lives. As April is National Financial Literacy Month, Gateway Mortgage is delighted to announce its Gateway to financial freedom series on consumer financial topics. The subject to come, “Mortgage Basics: Navigate to Homeownershipis a four-episode series that will be offered on April 7, 12, 21 and 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Space is limited, so please email [email protected] to reserve a spot today.

The courses are designed to help area residents increase their knowledge of home ownership and the home buying process so they can better control their own financial future. Each month a different topic from the consumer finance series is offered, including lessons on understanding the basics of borrowing; manage debt; find sources of down payment to buy a house; and how to create and maintain productive credit scores. Suggestions for future topics are also welcome from the community.

Gateway has worked in partnership with community leaders to open a new full-service mortgage center in North Tulsa in early 2021 with the goal of expanding reach to a traditionally underserved market. Gateway to financial freedom is the next step in the company’s core mission to “Strengthen Families and Communities” by enabling area residents to learn more about the process and benefits of homeownership.

Several pilot classes have already taken place in the E-Suite in the Shoppes on Peoria: 1717 North Peoria Avenue next to the Gateway Mortgage Center office. Classes are led by Tina Johnson, North Peoria Site Business Development Manager, Don Bradley, Service Change Control Analyst, and Bruce W. Schultz, Vice President/Community Reinvestment Law Officer. The team is looking to expand to other locations for future classes as well as deliver the program virtually.
