HDBank obtains 50 million dollars from the French development agency to finance green projects | Taiwan News

HO CHI MINH VILLE, VIETNAM – Media OutReach – September 17, 2021 – Proparco, the French development finance institution, has granted a loan of $ 50 million to HDBank to finance green projects and promote sustainable development in Vietnam.

This is the first collaboration between Proparco and HDBank.

A pioneer in green loans, HDBank has contributed in recent years to promoting the economic development of Việt Nam while minimizing the impact on the environment.

The loan will help the bank move closer to international green credit standards.

All projects financed by HDBank meet ecological criteria such as reducing energy consumption, reducing CO2 emissions, reducing pollution and targeting sustainable growth.

Green projects promise to create more than 1,350 direct and indirect jobs over the next few years.

They will contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Since 2018, HDBank has been financing green projects to support high-tech agriculture and renewable energies.

As of August 31 of this year, its outstanding loans to green projects amounted to nearly 13.5 trillion dong (US $ 593.2 million).

Through its green credit program, HDBank not only provides clients with the best financial solutions, but also targets sustainable values, promotes renewable energy, ensures national energy security, supports high-tech agriculture and helps protect the environment.

HDBank was the first Asian Development Bank (AfDB) member to receive the Green Deal Award, recognition for their notable achievements in the field of green finance while participating in the AfDB’s trade finance program.

HDBank was also voted by readers of the Vietnam Economic Times as the best bank for green credit financing in 2019.
