Since Ladder Up opened in 1994, the organization has come back $1.2 billion to more than 750,000 customers, providing free financial programs that help customers get the tax refunds they deserve, gain the knowledge to navigate today’s complex financial systems, and get help financial support to make their academic dreams a reality. Last year alone, Ladder Up got more than $14 million in reimbursement for Illinois taxpayers, with an average refund of $1,500.
What: The Ladder Up Tax-A-Thon event will kick off tax season by offering FREE tax preparation for Illinois residents who earn up to $32,000 individually or up to $58,000 per household. During this annual Tax-A-Thon event, trained volunteers will help taxpayers claim credits and refunds that might otherwise go unclaimed.
For many, the repayments that Ladder Up helps secure are the biggest checks they will receive all year, enabling these individuals and families to move up the economic ladder.
